FAQ

What tools are required to assemble a Lofty Dreams Loftbed?

We suggest using socket wrench with a 9/16" attachment and 9/16" wrench.  If you do not have a socket wrench use two 9/16" wrenches. No other tools are required

How much does a Lofty Dreams Loftbed weigh?

The loftbed will weigh about 250lbs when fully assembled.

Will I have to sand the bed before painting/staining?

All beds are run through a two-sided planer which removes lumber stamps and rough surfaces from the larger sides, very little sanding will be needed.  Light sanding is done for the other two sides.  If you are staining the bed it may be necessary to sand further.

What type of wood/hardware do you use?

We use #1 Southern Yellow Pine and hex head bolts with nylon threaded nuts.

Can I use carriage bolts?

We do not suggest carriage bolts as they will strip the holes after 1 use.

Is it safe for my child?

Lofty Dreams is committed to making a safe and sturdy bed.  All beds come with 3 side safety rails to keep you child safe.

What is the recommended age for a loftbed?

We suggest children are at least 4 years of age for the medium and tall beds.

What do I do if the bolt does not line up with the hole?

In most cases you will need to maneuver the pieces around to have the holes line up.  Your Lofty Dreams Loftbed is created to be stable and to do this the cuts and holes must be exact.  When first assembling the bed the bolts MUST be loose to allow each piece to rock into place. Also, make sure you are placing the piece into the correct hole.
