Assembly

Setting up your Lofty Dreams bed is easy with 2 people! It can be done with one person but it is not recommended.

DO NOT TIGHTEN BOLTS UNTIL THE ENTIRE BED IS TOGETHER!

Your Lofty Dreams bed is designed to be sturdy and solid. In order to make all the pieces fit, the bolts must be kept loose enough for each piece to be maneuvered until all pieces are assembled. After all the pieces are attached, the bolts should be tightened.

Step 1: Decide where in the room your loftbed will be placed.  The four corner posts have all the necessary holes to fit in any direction.  The two tallest corner pieces (A) will be at the head of the bed.  The shorter corner pieces (B) will be at the foot of the bed.  The four corners should be set up in the approximate locations in the room where they will be standing. The 2x4s will be facing the headboard and footboard and the 2X6s will be facing the sides. Warning: Do not allow pieces to be free standing, lean them against the wall or set them on the ground.  Trust us, they will fall!

Step 2: Attach the long mattress supports (C) to the inside of the corner posts.  These supports will attach to the 2x6s on the corner posts. The holes will be the 3rd and 4th from the top.

Step 3: Attach the short mattress supports (D).  Remember these should be snug.  Shifting the legs may be necessary for these pieces to fit. You will be using the 4th and 5th holes from the top on the headboard side and the 2nd and 3rd holes from the top on the footboard side.

Step 4: Attach the headboard (E) and guardrail (F) on the inside of the 90” corners. The headboard will be in the 1st and 2nd holes from the top and the guardrail will be in the 3rd hole from the top. The bolt head will be on the inside with the nut facing the wall Note: All 4 E and all 3 F pieces are interchangeable, plan where each one will be placed before assembling. Hint: What we are trying to say is put the best sides facing outward J

Step 5: Attach the steps (E) and footboard guardrail (F) to the outside of the frame.  Note: The footboard guardrail does not need to be above the mattress.  This piece is there to assist in climbing onto the bed. Ensure bolt heads are on the outside with the nuts on the inside of the frame.

Step 6: Attach the 3 guardrails (G).  All guardrails will be placed on the outside of the frame. Two will be on the front with one on the back.

Step 7: Attach the bottom supports (H) on the short and long sides on the outside of the frame.

Step 8: Attach the slash braces (I) on the short and long sides on the outside of the frame.  Remember the bed may need to be shifted for the braces to fit and the bolts MUST be loose on the entire bed!

Step 9: Attach the center plywood support (J).

Step 10: Insert the plywood with the smooth side facing down.

Step 11: Before tightening the bolts use a level and/or tape measure to align the bed.  If you don’t have one, use your best judgment.  The inside of the legs will measure 40” X 77” for a twin, 40” X 82” for a twin XL, 56” X 77” for a full and 64” X 82” for a queen (within ½”).

Step 12: Almost there!  Tighten all the bolts. Make it secure but do not over tighten. Some washers will depress into the wood and that is fine.

Step 13: Move the bed against wall and enjoy.
